Discipleship

Discipleship

Jesus calls all of this followers to be disciples. It is the mission of the church to make disciples (Matthew 28:19). At Faith, we are committed to training and equipping Christians in what it means to be a disciple of Christ.

Cheap grace is the enemy of the church. It means forgiveness of sins proclaimed as a general truth... an intellectual assent to that idea is held to be itself sufficient to secure remission of sins. Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance... grace without discipleship, grace without a cross... Costly grace is the gospel [of the church]... It is costly because it costs a man his life, and grace because it gives a man the only true life... When Christ calls a man, He bids him come and die. -Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Discipleship is more than learning about our faith, but it is certainly not less than that. Christian discipleship is a holistic endeavor, as our faith impacts every aspect of our life. At the very center of any discipleship effort is Christ in the gospel, the power that gives the life of God to all who believe in him.
