Takeaway: Adoption is not a status we must earn by becoming like God. It is an identity God gives and calls us to grow into. Neglecting this reality will not only deprive us of experiencing many of the joys of the Christian life, but it can also lead to greater sin struggles. Does your prayer life reflect your adoption or expose that you struggle to believe it? Does being a debtor to God have a positive or negative association for you? Why?
