The Nature of Christian Faith

January 8, 2023 Speaker: Kevin Nelson Series: Romans

Passage: Romans 4:13-25

Takeaway: Christian faith has an object (God’s promises), a content (of forgiveness and new life), and a subject (for me). There is a danger when our faith lacks or substitutes any of these three. In Romans 4, Paul introduces Abraham not simply as an example of someone who had strong faith but to point us to the object and content of Abraham’s faith. All of this, however, is meaningless, unless we receive and rest on these promises for ourselves. Are there things you are putting your faith in that God has not promised? What is the difference between receiving the promises of God and resting on them?
