Takeaway: This passage introduces us to the concept of a substitute sacrifice. We are helpless to deal with the penalty for our sin on our own. God chooses to provide a substitute for us. This raises a lot of questions: Why can’t God just forgive me without a substitute? If my sin is dealt with, do I really need to stop sinning? Understanding God’s offer here is key to understanding his love for you.
